Why Obtain a License for PLT Tools?
PLT Tools is available in two versions, an unlicensed (unregistered) version for which there is no fee and a licensed (registered) version for which there is an annual fee. Almost all features of the licensed version are available in the unlicensed version. Major differences are:
• Graphics: In the registered version, each page contains a large footer indicating the name of the company or institution that holds the license followed by the phrase "(Confidential)". In the unregistered version, this is replaced with "Created with PLT Tools (to register, go to www.PLTsoft.com).
• Support: With the registered version, complete support is available via email or phone with no fee. In the unregistered version, support is generally not provided. However, during the introductory period, support may be provided for the unregistered version.
• Modes of operation: The registered version supports simultaneous NONMEM runs. A network version requires registration plus a supplemental fee.
How to Obtain a License for PLT Tools
1. We recommend that you install PLT Tools, then test at least one example using the unregistered version before you purchase a license. This ensures that there will be no installation issues on your computer(s). Once a license is purchased, no refunds will be provided.
2. Complete a purchase agreement. Return the completed / signed agreement via fax to 415-564-2220 or as a scanned document to email.
3. Payment can be completed via individual or corporate check, credit card, or bank transfer. Indicate the preferred means of payment on the purchase agreement; if you choose credit card or bank transfer, you will be provided the appropriate information. Once payment is complete, you will be issued a license code valid for one year. Temporary licenses can be arranged pending payment.
License Procedure for PLT Tools
Initial License: Annual, renewable, licenses are obtained from PLTsoft Inc. License fees are shown in the table. Once the license fee is paid and the user has provided the text to replace "COMPANYNAME" in the footer "COMPANYNAME (confidential)", a license key will be provided. The user enters the license key once and the software is licensed for one year. In order to ensure that the software works successfully on your computer, we recommend that the user install and test the software before requesting a license key.
License Renewal: Approximately six weeks before a license is about to expire, the registered user (and the Accounting Department, if contact information has been provided) will be contacted via email with a renewal form. If the license is not renewed by the due date, an interim license can be arranged for a supplemental fee, pending payment of the full fee. Once the license has lapsed, the software reverts to the unregistered version.

Media containing all installation files for PLT Tools is available for $45, including 2-day shipping within the United States. There will be additional fees for shipping outside the United States. The media is not needed for installation.
Network operation: A networked version, permitting conduct of NONMEM on multiple CPU's simultaneously, is available for a supplemental fee. Contact PLTsoft.
License Procedures for Related Software
NONMEM: Use of PLT Tools requires a valid license for NONMEM. The user is responsible for obtaining and maintaining this license and software. NONMEM licenses can be obtained from Icon Development Solutions.
Graphics Engine: Either S-Plus or R is required in conjunction with PLT Tools to run NONMEM, organize folders and files, perform statistics and create graphics.
• The licensed version of PLT Tools requires S-Plus (licenses can be obtained from Insightful).
• The unlicensed version of PLT Tools can use either S-Plus (licenses can be obtained from Insightful) or R (a free download at www.R-project.org).
